The
Instruments Design Development and Facilities Centre, Ambala has been set
up with financial and technical assistance from UNDP/UNIDO, the Central and the
State Govt. with an investment of Rs.60 million. The Centre is recognized as R&D
Laboratory and Test Centre by the Deptt. of Science & Technology, NABL and Bureau
of Indian Standards, Govt of India. The facilities being provided by IDDC are:
Besides catering to the needs of the local industry, the Centre has developed State-of-the-art Electronics products for direct marketing which includes; X-ray Machines, UPS, Focometer, Laser education kits etc. The Centre has also successfully developed a much improved version of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) than being currently used in the country. It is trying to get it approved by the Election Commission of India. Electronics
Research Development and Facilities Centre (ERDC) has been set up by Hartron
with assistance from DoE, Govt. of India and UNIDO at Gurgaon. The Centre, set
up with an investment of more than Rs.20 million, is catering to a large number
of Electronic Units in the region and has developed more than 50 products/know-hows
at the initiative of the local Industry. Facilities being provided by ERDC include:
The Centre has also taken up direct production of various Electronic products which include Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), Electronics Slimmer upto 12 channels etc. ERDC has introduced a scheme "Contract Assembly" where in young entrepreneurs can set up their own manufacturing units for Electronic products without investing in capital equipment. The Corporation provides the product design, assembly, testing and expert advice on all the matters. There is no restriction on the volume of production. Another prestigious project set up by Hartron is Precision Mechanical Design and Associated Facilities Centre (PMDF) at Gurgaon for Electronics Industry. It has been established with UN assistance of US $2.32 million and State Govt assistance of Rs.2.37 crores. The facilities being provided under this project are design and fabrication of precision tools, dies, jigs and fixtures, inspection and testing of components; consultancy services to effect methods and product improvements etc. Equipments
